Testimonials

We have received very positive feedback from attendees of previous seminar about Excel validation. To learn how the seminar helped to validate and use Excel in regulated environments, click here.

Introduction

Excel® Applications are widely used in laboratories, offices and manufacturing e.g., for data capture, data manipulation and report generation. Like any other software also Excel spreadsheets must be validated when used in regulated environment. However, while the validation of vendor supplied software applications is well understood and performed by validation professionals, this is not the case with spreadsheet applications. Frequently they are developed by members of the department or by users who may not be validation experts, so there are many questions.

Questions related to Excel® are:

  • Which Excel spreadsheets need to be validated?
  • What exactly is required by the regulations?
  • Are there different requirements between EU and US FDA?
  • What does GAMP®5 suggest for Spreadsheets?
  • Are there specific recommendations from the New Annex 11
  • What should we validate?
  • Should we assess the software vendor or developer?
  • How detailed should requirement specifications be?
  • Should we test standard Excel® functions?
  • Should we validate ad 'hoc' or 'one time use' Excel® spreadsheets?
  • How to test and document ongoing performance?
  • What and how much should we document?
  • How does the FDA validate Excel spreadsheets?
  • How to apply risk based validation to Excel spreadsheets?

How does the audio seminar help:

Answers will be presented by Dr. Ludwig Huber in a new interactive audio seminar. During the seminar, the speaker will present strategies and give practical recommendations. After the seminar, an extensive list of reference material like case studies, SOPs, templates and a complete set of validation examples will help immediate and cost effective implementation.

During the interactive presentation you learn about:

  • Regulatory requirements for spreadsheets; FDA Part 11, GxP,
  • Recommendations from the new GAMP®5 and Annex 11
  • Developing a validation policy and plan.
  • Setting user requirement specifications: the right level of detail?
  • When, what and how much to test?
  • Writing a test plan?
  • How to document test results?
  • Validation of standard/native Excel functions?
  • How to apply risk based validation to spreadsheet applications
  • Validation of 'ad hoc' spreadsheet applications.
  • How to document planning, specifications, installation, testing and changes
  • Going through a complete example from beginning to end

And for easy and instant implementation:
